WB 2015 – MSU Ecological Engineering in the Tropics

Costa Rica – MSU / UCR – December 26, 2015 – January 9, 2016

An early morning start!

For most of us, today started around 3 am. Nothing like an early morning to help you sleep during a 2 hour flight! Despite an alarm that didn’t go off and a not-empty water bottle caught by TSA, Danielle, Dan, Alex, Lauren, Katelyn, and I all caught our 7 am flight to Fort Lauderdale – which was delayed… A lot.  After 3 hours in the airport and 2 hours on the tarmac, we finally were on our way.

Our view for a while…

Goodbye Florida!

Hello, Costa Rica… Tilaran I believe from the windmills.

Despite a small glitch in getting money (the ATMs were out of cash), we finally made it to the hotel and sat down to dinner.

Planning on a relaxing evening for the students to catch up on some assignments and settle in.

Where the students plan to spend the evening

After my many trips to Costa Rica, I shouldn’t be surprised by the sense of welcome I got as we viewed the mountains and communities from above and at how wonderful the manager of hotel de la rosa was as a host.  Hopefully, everyone will leave this trip with the same feeling!
